Dolphin Death Investigated by MGM Mirage

A dolphin named Sage, aged 11, has died at The Mirage's aquatic habitat on the Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada. MGM Mirage officials are currently investigating the cause of the dolphin's death.
Investigation Details
Gordon Absher, spokesperson for MGM Mirage, stated that the company's animal care officials are working to determine the cause of Sage's death. The dolphin habitat, known as Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat, originally opened in 1990 with five dolphins. Since then, 13 dolphins have died at the facility.
External Review
In response to the incident, PETA has requested that the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal Care Division conduct an investigation. They have asked for a necropsy to be performed to understand the circumstances surrounding Sage's death.
Habitat Information
Despite this unfortunate event, the dolphin habitat at The Mirage remains popular. It offers tours, hosts birthday parties, and is available for private rentals.
